Little Rock may sound like a tough-guy name, but this little Yorkie is mostly made of caution, curiosity, and a hint of conspiracy theorist. He believes hands are suspicious, laps are optional, and being approached directly is simply not part of his personal contract. He has recently begun honoring his foster mom with brief couch snuggles and a few gentle pets, so clearly he’s warming up… but only on his terms. Consent is very important to this gentleman.
His favorite thing in the world is crinkly toys, which he investigates with the same dedication a detective uses to inspect clues. He’s a very smart boy and has figured out that if he hops into his crate voluntarily, it becomes his private Uber to the backyard or other rooms — no touching required. He is both fearful and clever enough to avoid anything he finds too intense, so a secure fenced yard is a must, since he does have “I could slip out of here if I wanted to” energy.
Little Rock is fully potty trained and quite polite in his crate, especially as long as he knows where his dog friends are. He absolutely needs at least one confident canine buddy to show him the ropes. He adores other dogs and studies them like they’re his professors. With the right furry role model and humans willing to go slow, his bravery grows—just a tiny bit at a time, like a popcorn kernel slowly deciding whether to pop.
He hasn’t worked on leash skills yet, but he is moderately active and enjoys exploring in his own quiet way. New people still make him uncertain, though he’d never rule out friendship; he just needs more time, patience, and maybe a few treaties to sweeten the deal.
Little Rock is a project pup, but a very rewarding one. In the right home—calm, gentle, and equipped with a canine friend—he will continue blossoming from a timid pebble into a truly precious gem.
Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.
